Surplus Litter Bins (something from nothing)

During a visit to an Italian manufacturer in connection with another project, we noticed that the material left over from the CNC punching of components for vending machines appeared to have the potential to become a product in its own right. Normally, this waste material would be returned to the supplier as scrap, however, a sympathetic (and intrigued) General Manager arranged for a selection of scrap sheets to be sent over to Gusto.

The search for a use focused on using the sheets in their entirety and eventually resulted in the idea of making waste paper bins from the waste material.

The wastepaper bins are manufactured by rolling and welding the galvanised steel sheet and combining the resulting cylinder with die-cut polypropylene sheet components (tops and in some cases, bases), thereby minimising the tooling investment.

The bins are intended for use with paper waste and so most of the range do not require bags.
